INTERVIEWING AT JD

Come prepared, stay curious, and be yourself. It’s about finding the right fit, for you and for JD.

Interviewing Tips & Insights

  • The interview format depends on the role. For retail, it might be a group or one-on-one interview, either in person or over the phone. For retail management roles, we usually begin with a phone interview before inviting you for an in-person interview.

Support Office and Distribution Centre roles usually have a one-on-one or panel interview, either virtually or in person.

Whatever the format, we’ll always let you know in advance!

  • Take some time to learn about JD Sports, including who we are, what we stand for, and why you want to be part of the team.

Think about how your experience fits the role and come ready to share examples that show us what you’re all about.

  • Aim for smart casual, something polished and appropriate, but don’t be afraid to inject your personal style.

We celebrate fashion through individuality, so show us what makes you, you. Bonus points if you rock a fresh pair of trainers!

  • Interview length varies by role and area of the business. Retail interviews typically last 30–60 minutes, while group interviews usually run between 1.5 to 2 hours.

Support Office and Distribution Centre interviews are generally around one hour.

We’ll always let you know the expected duration ahead of time.

  • You’ll hear from us within a few days. We’ll let you know the outcome and what the next steps look like if you’re moving forward.

  • Feeling nervous is totally normal! Just be yourself, show your passion for the brand, and let your personality shine.

Preparation is key, so take some time to get ready and build your confidence. At the end of the day, we simply want to get to know the real you.

  • Yes, but mainly for large recruitment drives like seasonal hiring and new store openings. Group activities help us see how you work with others and bring energy to the team.

Don’t stress, we’re not looking for perfect answers, just how you engage, communicate, and collaborate.
