THE ROLE
We’re looking for a Merchandise Assistant to join our Men’s Textile Merchandising team at JD Sports Head Office. This is a great entry-level opportunity for someone with a passion for product, numbers, and the inner workings of retail.
As a Merchandise Assistant, you’ll play a key role in supporting the flow of stock from supplier to store - ensuring the right product is in the right place at the right time. You’ll help keep our systems and orders accurate, work closely with suppliers and internal teams, and assist in reporting on how your category is performing. This includes creating and maintaining accurate product data, managing allocations, processing purchase orders, and supporting stock replenishment activities.
This role offers hands-on exposure to how a global retail head office operates and is an ideal first step toward a career in buying, planning, or merchandise management and will see you drive efficiencies and maximise sales and profitability for the business.
Reporting into the Merchandising Manager, this role is responsible for but not limited to:
Create and maintain product and order data in our internal systems
Ensure accuracy of pricing, product descriptions, barcodes and delivery details
Allocate stock to stores — ensuring the right product reaches the right locations based on sales and store profile
Track product deliveries and launch dates to ensure stock lands on time
Work closely with suppliers and brand partners to manage the order book and delivery timelines
Liaise daily with internal teams including Buying, Marketing, Warehouse, and Retail to support smooth product flow
Support the Merchandiser with compiling weekly reports and analysing sales, stock, and intake performance for your category
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR?
Previous retail experience (in-store or head office) is essential
Strong attention to detail and ability to spot errors or gaps
Confident working with numbers, spreadsheets, and basic reporting
Intermediate Excel and Microsoft Office skills
Clear and professional communication style
Highly organised and proactive — able to prioritise and manage multiple tasks
Someone who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
A positive, curious mindset and eagerness to grow a career in merchandising or head office retail
